SPRINGFIELD — Effingham County officials will celebrate impending renovations and additions to McCall Park with a groundbreaking to be held Friday, at 11 a.m. at the park at 5450 McCall Road in Rincon.

Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) funds, as well as a donation from Omnitrax, ill help bring much needed improvements to the park. Plans include adding a multi-purpose field for soccer or lacrosse, a basketball court, a dog park and a walking trail, renovating the baseball field, bathrooms and pavilion and paving the parking lot.

District 2 Commissioner Roger Burdette stated, “Exceptional parks and recreation facilities are key elements of a strong, safe, and family-friendly community. The renovation and improvements to McCall Park demonstrates this commitment to both our tax payers, as well as our recreation and youth sports programs.”

McCall Park will remain closed during construction and reopen at completion. For additional information, call 754-8061.
