Running Monday evenings this fall at the Coastal Georgia Center in Savannah, Georgia Southern University’s “Certificate in Professional HR Management” course provides 36 classroom hours of Professional in Human Resources/Senior Professional in Human Resources exam preparation across 12 weeks. 

 

Created and monitored by the HR Certification Institute, the next PHR/SPHR exam will be held online Dec. 1-Jan. 31. Exam-applicants must have completed at least two years of professional HR experience. After Jan. 31, the eligibility requirements for both exams will differ based on work experience and level of completed higher education.

 

Primarily designed for HR professionals, Georgia Southern’s professional development HR course is also open to members of the public seeking HR training. The four instructors provide a review of key human resource management concepts and trends based on the HR Certification Institute body of knowledge.

 

Running Sept. 7-Nov. 22, class sessions are held every Monday from 6-9 p.m. The class starts on a Tuesday due to the Labor Day holiday. Class members will get their course materials and web-access codes at the mandatory orientation session, 6-7 p.m, Aug. 30. 

 

The class is a blended learning program combining classroom review, six printed workbooks that cover topics tested on the PHR/SPHR exam, and web-based study tools and exams. Materials are developed nationally in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

 

Including all SHRM Learning System materials, the $1,000 course fee is discounted to $970 for participants who register before noon, Aug. 20. During that time, SHRM members may register for only $925. Registration closes at noon, Aug. 27.
