SPRINGFIELD -- The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a home invasion that occurred Friday afternoon.

According to the victim, a white male driving a white, newer model Ford F-150 truck pulled into his driveway and knocked on the door to his residence. The suspect told the victim that he was a contractor replacing the transformer at his house. He got the victim to walk in the back yard and show him where the transformer was. Investigators believe a second suspect went into the house and ransacked it while the other two men were outside.

The suspects left before the victim realized what had occurred. Several valuable items were stolen.

The suspects had no facial hair and no visible tattoos. The suspect, who made contact with the victim, also had a strong northern accent.
