Jeff Lariscy has announced his intention to run for mayor of Guyton in the Nov. 3 election.

Lariscy has served on the Guyton City Council and also on the planning and zoning committee. He also represented Guyton on the Effingham Hospital Authority and most recently has worked with both city employees and officials in his capacity as information technology support.

As information technology and media services coordinator for the Effingham County School System, Lariscy has experience working with multi-million dollar budgets, managing systems and projects and leading personnel in support of the largest IT infrastructure in the county.

He began his career as a high school math teacher at Effingham County High School, teaching algebra and geometry, and started the district IT department in 1994.

Lariscy is commander of the local Civil Air Patrol squadron, where also is the squadron’s public affairs officer. Additionally, he has had training in emergency services through the CAP.

“CAP has provided me many opportunities to work with youth, volunteer in the community, learn about aerospace and provide a better understanding of dealing with crisis situations,” he said.
