Qualifying in the upcoming three municipal elections ends this afternoon at 4:30, and candidates have been lining up for the prospective offices.

In Guyton, the three incumbents whose seats are up for election all have qualified to run again — aldermen Les Pevey and Brenda Lovett, along with Michael Garvin, who is seeking another term as mayor.

Rincon City Council incumbents Reese Browher and Paul Wendelken also have qualified to run again. Wendelken has served on city council for 12 years, and Browher is seeking a fourth term on council. Challengers Greg Brunson, Harry Capwell and Teresa Witt also have qualified to run for city council.

Three seats on the Rincon City Council are up for election this year. Ken Baxley, a former council member appointed to fill the unexpired term of Ann Daniel, who had resigned, holds the other seat to be contested.

Incumbents Troy Allen and Gary Weitman have qualified to run again, and Steve Shealy also has qualified. Weitman was appointed to assume the seat left open when Max Neidlinger resigned earlier this year.

Council member Butch Kieffer, whose seat is up for election in November, is retiring from his post.
