GUYTON -- South Effingham advanced to the second round of the Class AAAAA softball playoffs by sweeping the Veterans War Hawks on Wednesday 4-0 and 2-1.

Mustangs pitcher Kastin Belogorska was dominant in both games. She tallied a two-game total of 10 strikeouts while allowing just nine hits.

“We are figuring out ways to win,” South Effingham coach Chuck Smith. “Kastin pitched a great game. I take my hat off to Kastin. That child is pitching phenomenal and the defense is standing behind her, making plays behind her. She's nails. And she put us in good spots.”

Alex Brown, Cheyenne Miller, Hailey Pinette and ReAnn McCloy each collected RBI. McCloy went 3-for-3 in Game 2.

South Effingham will host Jones County next week.
