South Effingham students compete in Miss Georgia Teen

Two local teens competed the weekend of June 15-17 in the Miss Georgia Teen competition in Columbus.

Miss Springfield Teen, Sydney Crawford, won the talent competition in the teen division; and Miss Southeast Georgia Teen, Riley Browne, won the eveningwear competition in the teen division.

On the final night of competition both young ladies were named semi-finalists and were awarded $250 scholarships. Brown, 18, recently graduated from South Effingham High School and is heading to Georgia Southern in the fall. Crawford, 17, is a rising senior at South Effingham High School.

Effingham Hospital Board schedules meetings 

  • The Effingham Hospital, Inc. Finance Committee meeting is scheduled Thursday, June 22, at 5:30 p.m. in Kieffer Hall Community Room at Effingham Health System.
  • The Effingham Hospital, Inc. Board of Directors Strategic Planning Retreat is scheduled Friday, June 23, at 8:30 a.m. in the Human Resources Education Complex at Effingham Health System.
  • The Effingham Hospital, Inc. Board of Directors regular session meeting is scheduled Friday, June, 23, at 2:30 p.m. in the Human Resources Education Complex at Effingham Health System.

New pastor installed at Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church

The officers and members of Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church, 167 Blandford Rd., Rincon, invite the public to join in the celebration and installation of their first daughter/interim pastor to senior pastor, Rev. Annette Marie Goldwire-Brown.

The installation service will be July 8, beginning at 4 p.m. The church is located on Blandford Road, just off GA Hwy. 21 and 9th Street.

“This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Psalm 118:23-24.
