The scheduled municipal elections in Springfield and November won’t be contested.

The three incumbents from Springfield who were up for re-election —Justin Cribbs, Steve Shealy and Gary Weitman — were the only candidates to qualify for their seats. Shealy was elected in 2011, while Weitman, who previously served on city council, was appointed to his post in 2011 and then re-elected in November 2011. Cribbs was appointed to his seat in 2013.

Rincon’s three incumbents up for election — Reese Browher, James Dasher and Paul Wendelken — all qualified without opposition. Browher and Wendelken have served for 12 years each on Rincon City Council, while Dasher will begin his second four-year term. Dasher previously served on the Effingham County Board of Education.

Former Guyton alderman Jeff Lariscy will oppose incumbent Michael Garvin.

Alderman Kelli Lariscy, who was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Les Pevey, is not running for the post. Stephen Collins has qualified to run for the position, and Franklin Goldwire, appointed to fill the vacancy left by the late Brenda Lovett, will run unopposed for his seat on city council.
