Rincon Police Department collecting donations for tornado victims

RINCON -- The Rincon Police Department is joining forces with the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, the Georgia Sheriff's Association, National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and Georgia State patrol along with WSB, Caring for Others, and the Georgia Motor Trucking Association, to sponsor the "Convoy of Care" following the devasting tornadoes and storms last week in Coweta County.

Requested items are (new only):

 Toiletries 

Non-perishable food items

 Cleaning supplies 

Yard tools (gently used yard tools will be accepted) 

Inflatable mattresses 

Can openers

 Socks 

Underwear

The Rincon Police Department will be taking a trailer of collected items to Coweta County on April 14 and needs your help. 

Donations can be made at the Rincon Police Department at 107 17th St., Rincon.

Two Arrested After Stolen Ambulance Chase Ends in Crash in Port Wentworth

Two men are in custody after police say one stole an ambulance and led officers on a chase from Rincon to Port Wentworth Monday afternoon. The driver, Dwayne Simmons, 56, of Savannah, faces multiple felony charges. The passenger, Georgell Brown, 51, was charged with loitering after fleeing the scene of an earlier crash. The pursuit ended when the ambulance crashed near Highway 21.
