RINCON — The Rincon Recreation Department isn’t horsing around. It is “bucking” the usual entertainment options in favor of offering something unique to the area.
On Aug. 26-27, the department will present the 1st Rincon Rodeo at Freedom Park at 6755 Prosperity Drive.
“We’ve done the Spring Fair and other events — Breakfast with Santa and the Haunted House,” Recreation Coordinator Caitlin Glenn said. “This is another event that we want to put on for the community. ... We are getting a lot of good feedback so far.
“We are looking for a good turnout.”
The rodeo will feature eight events, including bareback horse riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, cowgirl barrel racing and bull riding.
Advance tickets cost $12 (check the department’s Facebook page). They will cost $15 at the gate. There is no charge for children 3 and under.
Food and craft vendors will be on site at 5 p.m. The rodeo will start at 7 p.m.
“We want to make it kind of like a little festival,” Glenn said.
