RINCON -- Today, contractors will traffic to the newly constructed roundabout at the intersection of SR 275 and Rincon-Stillwell Road/Long Bridge Road in Effingham County.

The contractor will begin working at 9:30 a.m. to have traffic flowing in the final roundabout configuration by 2:30 p.m. Once the roundabout is operational, this will allow the contractor to construct the center island of the roundabout.

The purpose of the project is to improve the operational efficiency and safety of this intersection. The roundabout replaces the former 2-way stop intersection. Roundabouts have demonstrated substantial safety and operational benefits compared to other forms of intersection control, with reductions in fatal and injury crashes.
