GUYTON -- South Effingham Elementary School students jumped, wiggled and twisted for a good cause Friday, generating $58,289.

Proceeds from the school's first Dance-A-Thon will be used to purchase picnic tables and other amenities for a recently built shelter that rests on a cement pad behind the school. The PTO exceeded its fundraising goal by 232 percent.

Each student received pledges from sponsors. Donations were made on a per-minute basis or a flat fee.
