Sheriff's office seeks help to solve rash of auto break-ins

SPRINGFIELD -- The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office needs your help. 

Starting last Wednesday and every night since, criminals have targeted neighborhoods in the county. To date, 18 entering autos have been reported with 13 guns stolen out of unsecure vehicles. 

These criminals are targeting anything of value to include wallets, cash, computers and firearms

. If you live in Goshen Hills, Stonegate, Hunters Chase, Beaubrook, Griffin Lakes or Westwood Heights, take a moment to check your security cameras or doorbell cameras to see if there was any suspicious activity. Extra patrol is on the street but the office needs help to catch the thieves.

If you see suspicious activity, call the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office at 912-754-3449 or you can text a tip anonymously to 847411,
