South Effingham head coach steps down

GUYTON -- Donnie Revell has surrendered his position as head football coach at South Effingham.

South Effingham finished the 2018 season with a 2-8 record. It did not quality for one of Region 2-AAAAA's four playoff spots.

Revell posted a 34-62 mark in nine years at the helm of the Mustangs, including 4-26 over the last three seasons.

Two Arrested After Stolen Ambulance Chase Ends in Crash in Port Wentworth

Two men are in custody after police say one stole an ambulance and led officers on a chase from Rincon to Port Wentworth Monday afternoon. The driver, Dwayne Simmons, 56, of Savannah, faces multiple felony charges. The passenger, Georgell Brown, 51, was charged with loitering after fleeing the scene of an earlier crash. The pursuit ended when the ambulance crashed near Highway 21.
