A Rincon toddler was rushed to a Savannah hospital Saturday afternoon after falling into a swimming pool.

A 3-year-old child fell into the deep end of the Lost Plantation swimming pool just before 4 p.m. Saturday and was pulled out of the water by a teenager. A nurse who was nearby performed CPR on the child, who was unresponsive.

“Thank goodness there was a nurse nearby,” said Rincon Police Chief Mike Bohannon.

An Effingham County EMS ambulance, with two Rincon Police cars clearing the way, rushed the child to Memorial Health University Center in
Savannah. Units from Port Wentworth and Garden City police departments also cleared traffic for the ambulance.

“I would like to thank Port Wentworth and Garden City police departments for assisting,” Chief Bohannon said.
