United Way agency needs volunteer tax preparers
Tax form

Neighborhood Improvement Association (NIA), a funded agency of United Way of the Coastal Empire, is seeking volunteers to prepare free federal and state income tax returns through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.

NIA partners with the United Way Effingham Service Center to offer free tax preparation to local taxpayers during tax season each year. No experience is needed as volunteers will receive free training to become an IRS-certified tax preparer.

Work schedule and hours are flexible, with the program running from January through April.  Volunteers will serve on-site at United Way’s Effingham Service Center located in Rincon as greeters or tax preparers.

For more information or to sign up, call Tiffany Carter at 912-447-5577 or email her at tcarter@niacdc.org.
