Thanks for lowering speed limit on Honey Ridge

Dear Editor,

I would like to thank the Effingham commissioners for the reduction of the speed limit on Honey Ridge Road. I understand this is not a popular decision with some folks who use this road as a shortcut for their daily commute. I too commute 70 miles a day to and from work and will admit I get a little “lead footed” if running late. I would also like to thank the Effingham County Sheriff’s Department for their use of the radar trailer a few months ago, as well as the increased presence of deputies on Honey Ridge.

As the community grows the traffic obviously increases, but with that comes an increase in pedestrians, cyclists and more homes facing roads like Honey Ridge.

Changing the speed limit will not solve the problem, but it’s a step in the right direction.
