Lady Mustangs earn all-region accolades

South Effingham placed two players on the All-Region 2-AAAAA girls basketball team. 

Junior Melanie Zeigler made the first team after tallying 266 points, 234 rebounds, 15 blocks and 33 steals. 

Senior Cianna Trenary was tapped for the second team. She logged 86 assists, 58 deflections and 90 steals. Trenary also canned 63 percent of her free throws. 

Lady Mustangs Kay’Mar Griffin and Destinee Owens received honorable mention.

About 25 South Effingham High School football moms hit the field Monday night for Mustang Mamas, a preseason event giving them a hands-on taste of drills, coaching and camaraderie. Between laughs and learning, the moms gained a new appreciation for what their sons go through in the Georgia heat.
