Effingham County’s Jordan Hill had 12 tackles, 10 of them solo and one for loss, in the Savannah Christian Red Raiders’ 21-19 loss to three-time defending Class AA state champ Charlton County on Friday night.
The Red Raiders (5-1, 2-1 Region 2-AA) outgained the Indians 273-213 but turned the ball over five times. Savannah Christian, ranked No. 6 in Class AA by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, trailed the No. 2-ranked Indians 21-10 in the fourth quarter.
Brandon Sumner had 10 tackles and a sack and Tyler Sumner caught a 69-yard touchdown pass from Russell DeMasi. Tyler Sumner also had 50 yards rushing and was the target of a two-point conversion pass that would have tied the game at 21-21.
SCPS will travel to Long County next.
