SPRINGFIELD -- The Effingham County Rebels swam with the Sharks on Saturday but not quite well enough to register their first win of the season.

After taking a 49-48 lead with 7:05 to go, the Rebels (0-7) were left in the wake of a 25-11 run that powered Islands (2-1) to a 73-60 victory. Jaylen Cove sank four threes during the decisive stretch.

Cave finished with 17 points. His Sharks teammate, Derek Edwards, was the game's high scorer with 28.

Jaquez Brown led the Rebels with 21 points. Randy Scott added 14.
