The USSSA GA Pride 10 and under girls fastpitch softball team was crowned "King of the Mountain" in one of the biggest tournaments in the Southeast from March 23-25. Teams from Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee and South Carolina took part in the tourney, held in Atlanta.
The Pride went 6-0-1,rallying to beat the Palmetto (S.C.) Wildfire 5-3 in the championship game. The Wildfire led 2-1 before the Pride started its comeback.
"I am so proud of all our girls," said coach Shannon Miller. "They battled all weekend, playing some tough teams out of the Atlanta area. I could point out some awesome plays that every girl made, but our team is about winning or losing as a team. We are ‘one,’ from the parents to the coaches and all the girls, we are one family. That’s what we are all about."
