South Effingham blanks Statesboro

South Effingham's softball team improved to 4-0 in Region 2-AAAAA Thursday by blanking Statesboro 4-0 in Statesboro. The Lady Mustangs, whose junior varsity won its game 11-0, is 13-3 overall.

Alex Brown collected three hits for South Effingham and Allie Ergle contributed two base knocks and an RBI. Cheyenne Miller had one hit and two RBI. Emily Laverenz and Alex Johanson (one RBI) had one hit each.

Kastin Belogorska was the winning pitcher. She logged seven strikeouts and issued one walk.

South Effingham will host region foe Ware County on Tuesday at 6 p.m. and visit Effingham County on Wednesday, also at 6 p.m.
