A group of Effingham County Middle School students participated in Georgia Southern University’s Global Village Competition, as part of the International Festival hosted by the Center for International Studies.

Effingham County Middle won the competition’s award for most creative.

Students spent weeks researching, decorating and designing a mini-booth about the country they were assigned. They even cooked and tried out authentic foods from the assigned country.

The ECMS students worked on Friday and Saturday sharing all the information they learned about India. While at the competition, they were able to explore other booths and learn more about countries from around the world.

The ECMS students who participated were Ellen Hunter, Sabrina Ridgley-Thornton, Emily Devisscher, Owen Beaver, Andrew Gonzales, Madisyn Lewis, Grace Owens-Gaughn, Gabby Batterton and Sydney Wilkinson. Their teacher was Amber Healy.
