Effingham Academy alums enjoy 60th reunion

The class of 1953, the first to graduate 12 grades from Effingham Academy in Springfield, held a 60-year reunion recently at the home of Walter and Carolyn (Burns) Gnann.

Twenty people were in the graduating class, and 11 were present at the reunion. Spouses were invited.

Those present were Dixie Hinely (Calvin) Zeigler, Ruth Anderson (George) Ambrose, Lee Ellen Tebeau (Billy) Hanberry, Helen Phillips Harrison, Jan Arnsdorff (Donald) Hanberry, Barbara Jaudon (Eddie) Heath, Emory (Ella) Thomas, Ellis (Rachel) Wilson, Earl (Margaret) Shearouse, Varnie (Priscilla) Wilson and Walter (Carolyn) Gnann.

Not present were Betty Exley (Mickey) Kicklighter and Joan Graham (Terrell) Neidlinger.

Deceased members of the graduating class are Corley Edwards, Margaret Bridges Ayers, Joseph Snooks, Wayne Shearouse, Carolyn Shipes Weaver, Emory Arnsdorff and Claire Jaudon.
