Effingham was well represented at the State Capitol by students Annabeth Helmly, Hunter Gnann, Molly Welch, William Bland and Austin Kessler of Effingham County High School, as they paged for state Reps. Jon Burns and Bill Hitchens on Jan. 28 in the General Assembly.

They met Gov. Nathan Deal, as well as Speaker of the House David Ralston, and had pictures taken with both.

The page program with the Georgia House of Representatives allows students 12 years of age and older an opportunity to visit the Capitol and help their state representative for the day. They assist by delivering notes from constituents, lobbyists and other guests to representatives on the House floor.
