Three fifth-graders claim top spots in chess tourney

Students from eight Effingham County elementary schools participated in a county-wide, elementary chess tournament at Guyton Elementary on April 20.  

The 36 students competed in various rounds of play, which resulted in three fifth graders taking the top spots.

Placing first was Riley Maness from Sand Hill Elementary. Larson Zettler from Ebenezer Elementary took home the second place trophy and Kenny Glover from Blandford Elementary captured third place.
