To help promote literacy and parental involvement, Sand Hill Elementary School parents were invited to “Muffins with Mom and Donuts with Dad.”

Parents sat and ate breakfast with their child and discussed the reading activities that are going on at the school. Also, parents were given materials and tips for raising lifetime readers and bookmarks to motivate and encourage their child to read.

The early-morning program was part of Sand Hill Elementary’s efforts to provide parents opportunities to be involved in their child’s education. More than 120 parents attended, according to SHES parent liaison Felicia Hills.

“Parents always enjoy coming to events in which they can participate in activities that involve their child,” Hills said. “I was happy to see so many parents and to hear such positive feedback about the event. It was a huge success.”
