Mrs. Sheila Thompson of Guyton and Mr. Roderick Jefferson of Atlanta are pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, LaToya Mignon Jefferson to Anthony Marc Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Jones of Surrency.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Roberts, Sr. of Guyton and Mrs. Gracie Jefferson and the late Mr. Frank T. Jefferson, both of Quitman. Latoya is a 2000 graduate of Effingham County High School and a 2004 graduate of Georgia Southern University with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. She obtained her master’s degree and specialist degree in teacher leadership at Walden University. LaToya is employed by the Effingham County Board of Education as a fourth grade math teacher at Blandford Elementary School in Rincon.

The groom-to-be is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Reed of Brunswick and the late Mr. and Mrs. Nathaniel Jones of Surrency. Anthony is a 2000 graduate of Appling County High School and a 2004 graduate of Georgia Southern University with a bachelor’s degree in music education. He received a master’s degree in music education from Boston University. Anthony is employed by the Wayne County Board of Education as a middle school band director at Martha Puckett Middle School and the interim band director at Wayne County High School, both in Jesup.

The wedding ceremony will be held at First Baptist Church of Rincon in Rincon on July 9, 2011 at 4 p.m. The reception will be held immediately following the ceremony at the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum in Pooler.

All family and friends are invited to attend.

Mr. and Mrs. Dale Mixon of Guyton announce the upcoming marriage of their daughter, Amy Cierra Mixon, to Landon Harry Snooks, son of Steven and Harriett Snooks of Springfield. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Hill, Sr. of Eatonton, Ga., and the great-granddaughter of James Harmon Sr. of Fort Valley, Ga. Cierra is a 2012 graduate of South Effingham High School and a 2017 graduate of Armstrong State University with a bachelor of science in Radiologic Science with a focus in cardiovascular science. Cierra is employed at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro.
