Nina Dasher attended the annual Arc of Georgia Conference in Macon on Sept. 15-17 at the Anderson Conference Center. David Pitonyak’s topics were “Beyond Behaviors” and “The Importance of Belonging.” He talked in an amusing way that being connected to the people you love is critical to emotional and physical well-being.  He cites that many people experiencing disabilities are sick from loneliness. This workshop was about ideas for moving beyond interventions and coverage to a system that supports enduring, freely chosen relationships.  The Arc of Effingham invites people with developmental and intellectual disabilities and their families to join.
