Col. James "Keith" Edenfield was selected to be the new commander of the 165th Airlift Wing of the Georgia Air National Guard.
The 165th is based at the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport. Col. Edenfield assumes command of more than 900 personnel, eight C-130H2 cargo aircraft and other assets.
Col. Edenfield resides in Statham with his wife Allyson and their children Ansley and Clayton. Col. Edenfield is a pilot with Delta Air Lines flying the Boeing 737. He is the son of Mrs. Frances Knight, an Effingham County resident.
Col. Edenfield has previously served as the vice-commander of the 116th Air Control Wing, Georgia Air National Guard, and as the vice-commander of the 165th. He is a graduate of the Air War College and the University of Georgia.
He is a veteran of Operation Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He is a command pilot with over 5,300 flying hours.
