For two months, Cadet/Chief Master Sgt. Brandon “Bates” Hollifield has been the top recruiter in the state for the Civil Air Patrol.

C/CMSgt Hollifield is a member of the Effingham Cadet Squadron of CAP. In addition to C/CMSgt Hollifield being identified as the top recruiter, squadron commander Capt. Richard Bush also tied with three other members for second place in recruiting for the second month.

In addition to his accomplishment of being the top recruiter, C/CMSgt Hollifield recently attended Civil Air Patrol Day at the Capitol, a day where the Georgia Wing of the Civil Air Patrol is recognized for its service to the state and local governments.

Second Lt. Jeff Lariscy and Cadet Senior Airman Lukas Lariscy also attended the event at the Capitol. While the cadets served as pages in the House of Representatives, 2nd Lt. Lariscy was able to network with other CAP members and staff from the offices of representatives. Maj Gene Warnock, commander of Group IV of Georgia CAP, was also in attendance.

“The trip provided an excellent opportunity for our cadets to become familiar with our representatives and witness them at work,” Lariscy said about the trip.

With a program that incorporates aerospace education, search and rescue training, disaster recovery training, and military drill and ceremony, the Civil Air Patrol has opportunities for cadets and senior members to volunteer their time and talents and receive training in areas that may interest them. Anyone interested in joining is encouraged to visit a regular meeting, held Mondays at 6:30 p.m. on the campus of Effingham Christian School at 226 Goshen Rd.
