Effingham County Fishing Derby at Baker Pond

More than 70 kids and 14 senior citizens took part in the Effingham County Recreation and Parks’ fishing derby Saturday at Baker Pond.

Taylor Gilder landed the biggest fish, a 1-pound, 14-ounce bass. Julie Palmer caught the most fish in the 2-5 age bracket; Zebrandon Gant, with 11, had the most for the 6-10 age group and Elliott Coleman was second. Dustin Carter had the biggest fish among the 6-10-year-olds at 15 ounces and Jordan Shikany was second. Alan Benton, with 14, caught the most fish in the 11-14 age group, and Megan Steed was second.
