The Effingham County United Way is driving to a goal of $250,000 in its annual campaign.
United Way volunteers and campaign committee members unveiled the goal Tuesday at the Effingham County Recreation Department.
“We’re excited about this campaign,” said Stan Sparks of Georgia Power. “We’ve done a lot of work to get this thing kicked off.”
Pacesetters — groups and people who give to the campaign early to get it kick-started — already have given 35 percent of the goal, or $85,000.
The United Way of the Coastal Empire’s community campaign goal is $8,288,888, and the Pacesetter campaign raised a record $1.235 million, said UWCE campaign chairman Dale Critz Jr.
“We’re really off to a great start,” he said.
