Butch Kieffer was honored by Effingham Health System and the Hospital Authority at their September meeting.

The newly-renovated community room was renamed Kieffer Hall in  honor of his vision and his many years of service to the hospital, as well as the community.

"Butch Kieffer is truly a man of vision,” said Norma Jean Morgan, CEO for Effingham Health System. "In his years as a hospital authority member, serving from December 1975 to June 1979, and again from April 1998 to February 2006, Kieffer dedicated many hours to any strategic planning or manual labor, as needed, to promote the interests of this hospital.

"He truly believed that we could be more than a country hospital, and that we could do it without losing our identity or autonomy to a larger institution," Morgan continued. "We are pleased and proud to name our renovated community space in honor of this outstanding citizen of Effingham County. Welcome to Kieffer Hall."
