Everyone in attendance at Effingham Community Orchestra’s recent Retro Sock Hop fundraiser at the Effingham County Recreation and Parks Gymnasium in Springfield enjoyed an evening of fun food and entertainment.

Music was provided by the Orchestra’s jazz ensemble and spanned many decades, beginning with 1930’s jazz era and up to the present. Many of the attendees arrived dressed in attire from their favorite decade. There were poodle skirts, white socks and white T-shirts with sleeves rolled up from the 1950s, mini-skirts from the ’60s, heavy metal and biker attire from the ’70s, big hair and disco knits from the ’80s and grunge from the ’90s forward. There were swing dancers, twisters, rock-and-rollers, slow dancers and line dancers.
