A new Veterans of Foreign Wars post is opening in the Rincon-Springfield area. This is the first new VFW post in Georgia in more than four years.

The post will be partnering with the United Way-Effingham Service Center to complement the missions of both United Way and the VFW through a working relationship beneficial to veteran members of the local community and the community at large.

A reception for the new post will begin Thursday at 7 p.m. and it is open to the public. It will be held at the United Way Service Center at 711 Zitterour Rd. in Rincon. Light refreshments will be served.
