Girls in Troop 30197 earned their junior jeweler badge with the help of Megan Collins, owner/designer of Meg-E-May’s Fun Jewelry for the Kid at Heart in Pooler. The day began with the girls viewing many ready-for-sale pieces as Collins explained how they were made and showed them the tools needed for the variety of pieces.

Then the girls had a chance to make their own jewelry from everyday objects (squinky rings), metal (charm bracelets) and from another culture (Egypt-beaded bracelets/key chains). Next the girls joined together to make a “sparkly gift” and each picked out beads to make a beaded key chain for a Girl Scout sister who was in the hospital.

At the close of the meeting, the girls enjoyed a little shopping time.
