Attendees at Effingham Community Orchestra’s “It’s Showtime!” concert enjoyed music from popular Broadway, movie and television themes.

The Orchestra performed pieces from a broad span of decades and styles beginning with “Oh, What A Beautiful Mornin’!” from the Broadway show “Oklahoma.” Medleys including award winning themes from movies of the 1970s to the present were performed. The Orchestra’s jazz ensemble rocked the house with music from popular dance themed movies from the 1980s. Performances of several pieces from Walt Disney animated films included “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” from “Toy Story” and “Let It Go” from “Frozen.” The concert ended with the audience giving the Orchestra a standing ovation for its performance of “Over the Rainbow” from “The Wizard of Oz.”

“We thank all who attended the concert to enjoy our music and all those who supported our fundraising effort by purchasing raffle tickets,” said Orchestra Director Andrea Huff. “It is very exciting for us to bring quality musical entertainment to our audience and to offer such wonderful raffle prizes.”

The next raffle will be two one-day tickets to Dollywood plus a $100 VISA card. Tickets are on sale now and the winner will be drawn Aug. 21.
