Zipperer receives Cross of Military Service

Herman J. Zipperer was the recipient of the World War II Cross of Military Service medal and certificate on Sunday at the Confederate Memorial Day Service held in the unknown soldier section of Guyton City Cemetery.

The medal was presented by the Effingham County Hussars Chapter 2285 United Daughters of the Confederacy.

Zipperer served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He is a lineal descendant of Confederate soldier J. T. Zipperer.
