The Effingham County Chamber of Commerce will host its 2nd Annual Small Business Summit on May 18 from 11 a.m.-4:15 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express Conference Center in Port Wentworth.

The conference will focus on what some of the area’s most successful entrepreneurs are doing to find new clients and customers, lower their operating costs, adapt to changing markets and succeed in today’s economy. The event will offer marketing tips, tips for human resources departments and how to get more out of networking.

Speakers for the day include Diana Morrison of Advertising Specialty Services, Chris Cree of New Media, and Cindy Meagher of the Sullivan Group. Morrison will tell how a grass roots approach to marketing supports your brand for success and financial reward.

She said business owners sometimes get too busy working and have to remember what it was that got them to where they are in the first place.

“I am thrilled to be able to come to the Effingham area, and I’m thrilled to support the Effingham Chamber,” she said.  

Cree creates and implements new media systems that guide businesses to increased influence and income through current Internet technologies. Cindy Meagher will present the “Do’s and Don’ts of Hiring and Interviewing.”

Attendees will be registered to win a great door prize, a “Smart Marketing Makeover Package” provided by Morrison. This grassroots workbook was developed as a tool to train yourself and your staff on basic visibility do’s and don’ts from elevator speeches to trade show exhibition to networking and keeping your clients loyal. It also includes a three-hour session on site at Ad Specialty Services with Morrison and up to eight of your staff. The package has a value of $1,200.

For Chamber members, the cost is $25 for lunch or the seminar alone; $39 for lunch and the Seminar. For non-Chamber members, the cost is $35 for lunch or seminar alone and $49 for both lunch and seminar. To have a booth at the seminar, the fee is $50 for Standard members. A table for eight is $280 and includes a booth, lunch and the seminar.
