The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate an armed robbery at an Eden gas station Thursday night.
The Octane gas station on Highway 80 near Sandhill Road was robbed around 10:30 p.m. Thursday by a man armed with a shotgun and wearing dark clothing with a blue bandana over his face, according to the ECSO.
The man is described as white, about six feet tall and weighing 190-200 pounds.
“We’re still looking for him,” said ECSO spokesman Detective David Ehsanipoor. “We are following up on different leads. We’re still hoping someone has information.”
The man walked into the store and pointed a black shotgun at the clerk, according to investigators. He ordered the clerk to fill a duffel bag with money and lottery tickets and then fled on foot, Ehsanipoor said.
The suspect apparently had waited outside the store until the clerk was the only person inside, Ehsanipoor said.
A person of interest was questioned by investigators. The man was seen on the store’s surveillance system earlier that night.
“We have identified and made contact with that person, but no arrest has been made,” Ehsanipoor said.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to contact the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office at 754-3449.
