A Guyton man accused of murder is expected to be returned to Georgia soon.

Rincon Police have charged Chris Lowery, 45, with felony murder, malice murder and aggravated assault in the death of Linda Shaffer, 60. Shaffer’s body was found May 28 in the kitchen of her home on Rahn Street in Rincon by police officers. Friends had become worried when they had not heard from Shaffer for a couple of days and asked to police to check on her.

Rincon Police identified Lowery as a person of interest and issued an alert for Lowery and Shaffer’s car, a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am.
Lowery was apprehended June 1 in a Marietta, Ohio, motel by U.S. Marshals and Marietta police.

He had a first appearance in Marietta Municipal Court last Thursday and has waived extradition, according to the clerk of Marietta Municipal Court's office.

Lowery also is being charged with possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of a crime, theft by taking (motor vehicle) and identity theft.
