Chambliss improving

Former South Effingham High School standout Austin Chambliss has been nearly unhittable lately.

In his last five appearances for the Colorado Rockies’ Class A affiliate Tri-City, he has not allowed a run in his last 6-2/3 innings. During that span, he has struck out 10 batters, while issuing only one walk and surrendering five hits.
Chambliss pitched three innings, striking out five and allowing a hit and a walk in an 8-6 loss at Everett.

Chambliss replaced starting pitcher Drew Coffey in the bottom of the first inning, trailing 1-0 with a runner on second.
For the season, Chambliss is 3-2 with a 5.59 ERA.

The Dust Devils are 21-29 and are two games behind Boise in the Eastern Division of the Northwest League.

Josh Reddick
Reddick has cooled down a bit at Class A Greenville. He hit .239 with four homers and 13 RBIs in his last 10 games.

He was hitting .184 until two two-hit games. He went 2-for-4 with a homer and an RBI in a 10-3 loss Wednesday to Delmarva. He went 2-for-4 Thursday with a homer and two RBIs in an 8-6 win.

He still leads the Drive in batting with a .313 average. He has 16 homers and 61 RBIs.

Jason Shiell
Since returning from Kansas City on July 29, Shiell has pitched in two games for Triple A Omaha,  going 1-2/3 innings and allowing one earned run.
