ECHS takes fourth at SkillsUSA

Members of Effingham County High School’s SkillsUSA chapter competed and took home several prizes and an overall fourth place ranking at the first SkillsUSA Champions Rally at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry. Close to 900 members and advisors from 50 schools across Georgia joined together in Reaves Arena for a day of motivation and competition.
 
Christina Hillman, a senior at ECHS, represented Effingham County as the SkillsUSA state president. The keynote speaker was Keith Brown, who did an exceptional job capturing the audience’s attention and including many members of the audience in his presentation. 
 
Cash prize premiums for each Contest: first place - $50, second place - $40, third place - $30, fourth place - $20, fifth-seventh place - $10, and eight-10th place - $5 each will be awarded to the winners in the six different competitive areas: Chapter Recruitment Display, Chapter Recruitment Poster, Career Pathway Display, Career Pathway Poster, T-Shirt, and Chapter Banner.
 
Effingham County High School/Career Academy students Hillman, Amanda Link, Morgan Sansale and Stephanie Owens won second place in Chapter Banner. Sansale and Megan Schroeder captured second place in Career Pathway Display.  Sansale also took fifth Place in Chapter T-Shirt design and
Link took seventh place for her Career Pathway Poster design.  The first through third place winners stayed on display at the fair for the remainder of the event. 
 
The placements for each chapter are calculated and the chapter with the highest accumulated points is awarded the Georgia National Fair Superior Chapter plaque and $500. The second place chapter is awarded the Georgia National Fair Reserve Superior Chapter plaque and $250. All prizes are sponsored by the Georgia National Fairgrounds.
