SANY0591

Students in Mrs. Ashe’s class at Guyton Elementary had a fun filled exciting day at the Effingham Fall Special Olympics, held at Effingham County High School. The kids had the opportunity to play basketball, bowl, jump in a moon bounce, dance and eat a great lunch.  Everyone had a lot of fun and made some new friends.

Also, Mrs. Ashe’s class took a fantastic field trip.  First, the students visited the Dollar Tree in Rincon where they each picked out and purchased their own item.

Then they visited the Pumpkin Patch at Bethesda Methodist Church where they enjoyed a hay ride, story telling and each got to pick out and decorate their own pumpkin.

They finished off their trip by eating lunch at McDonalds in Rincon. It was a fun filled adventure and everyone had a blast.

The rise is largely due to an $8 million spike in health and retirement benefit costs for employees. To help cover the shortfall, the district may raise the property tax millage rate, potentially increasing homeowners’ taxes by up to 12 percent.
