Springfield Elementary’s Cooper Hesling is no stranger to chess. He takes the game seriously and has been an avid chess player for many years. He participated in the county’s chess tournament last year and was ready to take on the winners from each school this year.
Each year two fourth and fifth grade students from each elementary school who have won their school’s chess tournament play in a county wide tournament to determine the winners of the Effingham County Chess Tournament. All participants play each other until the top three players are determined.
