The first resource fair hosted by the Effingham County School System and Arc of Effingham was held at Effingham County High School on Thursday.

Shannon Knight, transition and encore facilitator, said the event was designed to help parents find out about resources available for their children.

She said she talked to other counties that have hosted similar events.

“They said it’s great because parents can learn about what’s out there for their children during and after school,” Knight said.

Nina Dasher, president of Arc of Effingham, said she was very excited about the event.

Booths were set up by non-profit groups including Easter Seals, government agencies including the Social Security Administration, and other service providers in the area including St. Joseph’s/Candler and Met Life and school programs including preschool intervention and even start.
