Retired educators honor essay winners

The Effingham County Retired Educators hosted their annual grandparenting essay contest.

More than 200 fifth graders participated in this year’s contest. Winners were chosen from each of the eight elementary schools.

Every entry received a participation certificate. The winners also received a ribbon, candy and a coupon from Papa’s Pizza in Springfield for a free pizza.
