SAVANNAH — Students may register for ‘Mini-Mester’ classes at Savannah Technical College beginning Oct. 1. These classes will start Oct. 17 and last through the end of fall semester, Dec. 11.

During the condensed semester, students may take select classes in programs like accounting, paralegal studies, electrical utility technology, air conditioning, certified nurse aide, commercial truck driving and dental hygiene.

Students may take online classes including introduction to computers, interpersonal relations and professional development and administrative law. Some general education classes are also available during the mini-mester.

The college’s nurse aide certificate at the Savannah, Effingham and Liberty campuses prepares students with classroom training and clinical experience to care for patients in various settings. CNAs work in nursing care facilities, community care facilities for the elderly and home health care services.

The technical certificate of credit for commercial truck driving may be earned during the fall mini-mester and qualifies students to test for a commercial truck-driving license. Commercial truck driving classes are offered at the Effingham and Liberty campuses.

Commercial truck griving students who are receiving the HOPE Grant may also be eligible for additional financial assistance from Georgia’s Strategic Industries Workforce Development Grant Award.
