Brownie Girl Scout Troop 30197 visited the USO airport facility at the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport on April 16. As a part of the Gift Of Caring project, they delivered seven cases of Girl Scout Cookies for the USO to distribute to the soldiers fighting for our country. Soldiers present in the military reception lounge were directly presented with a box of Trefoil Cookies and received a big hug from each of the girls.  The Brownies also sent 12 cases to soldiers overseas through the Cookies From Home program.

Cookies are not the only way these girls are helping our military. These Brownies used part of their cookie profits to make positional pillows for injured soldiers that come to the Army’s Forward Operating Base, Shank East Hospital in Afghanistan as part of the Pillows For Soldiers program. Nurses use the pillows to support the soldiers’ arms, legs and neck during surgery so that they are more comfortable. These pillows replace the rolled socks or T-shirts they have had to use in the past. The girls held a stuffing party and then these pillows, as well as a care package for the nurses, were sent to Afghanistan. The Brownies thanked Sgt. Eliece Neuman for her role in getting this program started.
